Inside the Wiffle Numbers from Scouts Inc.

Inside the Numbers: Brunetti
"Brunetti doesn't have much star potential but does project as a solid everyday rightfielder if he can answer some lingering questions about his defense, which has a few players questioning whether he will be able to play the position for a winning wiffleball team all year. I think he can, since with the extra weight he gained this offseason he now has the arm strength to throw from second to first. His swing is very simple, with a short path to the ball and some loft, and he keeps his weight back well. But because he's still has that Monty Burns like figure he lacks great bat speed, he projects to have below average power. Still, he should hit for average and get on base. If his head is not focused on Shelby his defense is probably adequate this year to play in the majors... Although that is a BIG if."

Inside the Numbers : Medina
"At one point in his career, Lorenzo could have been termed one of the best defenders in wiffleball at his position. These days that's hardly the case, but his teams continue to play him regularly at shortstop. It might be all downside from here for the soon to be 26-year-old (yikes thats old), so don't get your hopes up for a comeback campaign."

Inside the Numbers: Winter
"Although he may not put up the same huge season he did last year, don't expect Brendan Winter to regress all too much, as a changed swing and approach in the season opener made him a different hitter than in the past and we saw glimpses of his potential in 2008. When everyone was predicting a second-half drop-off last year, he still held up well and his power numbers were off the charts. He will start at the left side of the infield yet his range isn't the same it was when he was a 23 year old kid playing at the Thompson Garden but, we still can expect an above average player defensively."

  2. This weight will fade away, just like your receding hairline.

  3. Wow Scouts have got some pretty harsh words. Hopefully they ease up a bit when they evaluate me.
